A week in Uttara-Gazipur-Bangladesh-part 1- 2-7 Nov 10

When flying to Dhaka-Bangladesh from Bangkok, I realized that most of the passengers were male. Most of public workers are male in Bangladesh and the females are working at the factory. There are so many Bengali who can help you applying Arrival Visa…but need to pay some“BDT”for their services.. It seems legal even at the front of Immigration’s people.

Bengali’s male are really love talking & gossip…Coz we are foreigner & start talking behind us. But it doesn’t matter..coz we didn’t understand what they were talking about..right..
Even meeting w/ them, most of person (male) will start talking at the same time.
Sometime you don’t know which person you shall hear…hahha…..
Johnny had been talking some stories about BD when visiting our office..
But I didn’t realize that it was true……*shame*
I would like to say..”I believe you now ..Johnny”….

Bengali’s Meal time:
Breakfast around: 07:00-08:30am
Lunch around: 01:30~03:00pm
Dessert time (Twice): 04:00-07:00pm
Dinner: 09:00-11:00pm
They really enjoy their meals and foods.

They always eat sweet cakes, pastry and fruits when dessert time. Therefore you will find many of shops on the roads. Even I love sweet…it was too sweet for me.. but still love it..coz I prefer sweet than salty. tats why..you won’t be afraid of starving but getting fatter guys…hohh..
Maya’s person asked me: “Angie..How can you stand up without eating anything from 07:00pm-06:30am? “  They need to full their stomach before going to sleep…But it is quite strange because they are not really fat at all.
Bengali’s menu favorite is Fried Chicken as Johnny said. Yeah…tats rite…
That’s why I felt curious when found out fried chicken on lunch/dinner.
Coz it is very inconvenience eating it using fork and knife .. rite..
But we didn’t have a choice while eating w/ buyers or customers..hahhaa..
“Using hand” is a perfect and make it more yummy.. Q(*-*)P

When visiting factories, they will prepare some snacks, fruit and cola when meeting w/ them.
We had a chance to eat their breakfast “Parata” when visiting Ishaqpur.
“Parata” is quite nice and Rahme made it for us twice.
You can put any filling inside….mixed vegetables, tuna , etc..
I totally forgot…they love combine all of foods w/ mayonnaise too…
I’ll buy the Parata flours and bring it back to Tpe..I really enjoy and like Bengali’s food…rich..sweet..spicy…

They love to drink coke, 7up and juice too. I just remembered that India loves to drink cola too.
Same w/ Indonesia too..love soda’s beverages….When order soda beverages…the bottle or can won’t be showed up..it is already on the glass same as fast food did..

The most purpose in Bangladesh is visiting factories and meeting w/ WM-Mex buyer for Fall 11 orders. Most of factories are located in Gazipur. That’s why this area is quite complicated.
Pollution, traffic jam, electric off’s problems are very general issues every day.
There is some public transportation in Dhaka. They seem all in hurry..and always press the horn…really noisy..The driver must have a good skill to avoid traffic accident or hit the person who is crossing the roads suddenly.

Bangladesh has produced gas therefore all vehicles are using gas i/o oil..They only sell to 03:00pm coz it must be using for other lines. The most of big problem is electric off. You have to prepare generator/ diesel OR your house will be darker at the most time, especially summer time..very very big problem..I can’t imagine without electric every time…coz I am afraid of dark…it is so lucky that I am staying on Johnny’s house.
Again..arigato to Johnny….hehee
City: every 1-2hours, 1-2 electric off
Village: every 1/2hour , 4hours electric off.

When we take CNGI, Riksha even accompany w/ Bengali, it will be more expensive automatically. Lena said…she needs to pay more coz of me..hehhee

Actually living cost in BD is not cheap than I imagined before.
Some is more expensive than Indonesia or China too. Dunno..how can they face these problems?

When we bought some snacks at the road, Bengali just take some w/o pay any money.
Lena said..it is very normal coz they are low level & do nothing for that.

Bangladesh’s fabrics are really really nice. Most of female will buy fabrics and going to tailor for making the 3pcs traditional clothes. : Shirt, Long pant w/ scarf. Really really nice fabric and design. You have to put your scarf even you are not wearing it. I bought some scarfs for me and friends. Male will wear traditional clothes every Friday due to praying time.

I only had Gazipur's area photo......n i'll update w/ other photos next time. Pls visit my other lands to know more about the food that I ever ate while in BD....

The road is quite dirty and too many ashes..you can find some males are still take a pee at the road..they won't feel very embarrassed..coz it is very normal in BD...
So many kid's worker or beggar are at the street or stores... They will follow us due to foreigner....but sometime we can't give them or others will come to you..really pity..
